Gary L. Bookmiller

Gary L. Bookmiller of Chandler, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2021. He was born on January 27,1947 in Warsaw, NY. He was the son of the late George and Norma (Fisher) Bookmiller. He was a graduate of Warsaw Central School class of 1964 and Rochester Institute of Technology class of 1970, BS in business.

He was a store manager for Wegmans Food Markets in Syracuse for 25 years, until his disability retirement. He has lived with his wife of 52 years, Janet E (Lowden) Bookmiller, in Chandler, Arizona since 2003.

Gary enjoyed growing up in Warsaw, especially playing basketball in the village park. As an adult he still played basketball as well as handball. He enjoyed traveling. He loved working for Wegmans and giving outstanding customer service and helping make it become the best place to work.

He was predeceased by parents as well as his maternal grandparents Herb and Doris Fisher, his paternal grandparents Roy and Catherine Bookmiller, his parents-in-law Bill and Lois (McIntyre)Lowden, and his sister-in-law Lupe Lowden.

Besides his wife he survived by his brother Paul (Carol) Bookmiller of Rochester, New York; his sister-in-law Susan (James) McClellan of Chandler, Arizona and Santa Barbara, California; Brothers-in-law Bruce (Kris) Lowden of Tucson, Arizona; Roger Lowden of Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition he is survived by his nieces and nephew: Melissa McClellan, Craig (Danielle) McClellan, Bethanny McClellan, Sara Lowden, Samantha (Chris) Brees, Lilia Lowden, great- nephew Derrek Brees, great-niece Evie Summer McClellan, and one due soon. He also had many cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held 11:00AM, December 3, 2021 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, Arizona.
