He was born in Albany, California but his family moved to Arizona when he was 6 months old and he considered himself a native. He was the middle child of Achel and Pearl West; he had one sister, Lynda, and one brother, Dennis.
Grover attended Madison # 1 Elementary School in Phoenix and graduated from Central High School, class of '61. He also took classes at Phoenix College and ASU. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and liked to say that he won the war in the state of Washington.
Grover began his professional career at SRP in the drafting department, and retired in 2006 as a Senior Land Agent in the Land Department.
Grover and his family loved the outdoors and spent most weekends and vacations enjoying their passions. From 4-wheeling with a large group of friends, exploring the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada visiting historical sites and ghost towns and searching for antique bottles, to RV camping and fishing on the White River in the White Mountains of Arizona or camping and driving his speedboat up and down Lake Havasu, teaching all the kids and their friends to water ski. Grover loved life, loved to party and made the most of all the fun times with his family and friends.
Grover was an avid ASU Sun Devil football fan, and had season tickets for many years, often-times tailgating before and after game times in their RV. Grover had an unending love for his dogs, usually 2-3 at a time over the years, and they were, of course, always included in the activities with the family.
He is survived by his wife Susan, his sons Michael (Wendy) and Daniel, his sister Lynda (Gary), his brother Dennis (Suzanne), his grandkids Brock, Braden, Bryce, Brynn and Nathan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Achel and Pearl.
