Harry Charles Millsaps

Harry Charles Millsaps, 86, died August 25, 2026. Born September 3, 1939, in Maryville, TN, Harry earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee and went on to devote his working life to steady, purposeful service. He was employed by and retired from the U.S. Federal Government as a Civil Engineer with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and also served as a Civil Engineer for the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. Throughout his life, Harry was known as a man of integrity whose word could be trusted, and whose life reflected careful conviction rather than mere talk.

Harry married Janette Bolton on November 28, 1963. He is survived by his wife, Janette; his sons, Charles Shannon Millsaps (Diahann Millsaps) and Darek McKinley Millsaps (Christine Millsaps); his grandchildren, Alexi Vorhauer (Keelan Vorhauer), McKinley Millsaps, and Mikalie Millsaps; and his great-grandchild, Paul Todd Vorhauer. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Cartwright; his brother, Jerry Millsaps, and several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, William McKinley Millsaps and Edna Loudine Millsaps; his sisters, Ruth Hampton and Betty Sledge Moore; and his brothers, Edward Millsaps, William ‘Bill’ Millsaps, Fred Millsaps, and Kenneth Millsaps.

A faithful member of New Covenant Community Church and The Gideons International, Harry deeply valued the Scriptures and found both guidance and clarity in God’s Word. He was ordained as a deacon in 1968 at Una Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, and faithfully served as a deacon in several churches throughout his life. He also taught Sunday School for more than 60 years, sharing his knowledge of Scripture and his love for God’s Word with generations of others. He enjoyed reading and discussing the Bible and sought to live according to the truth found in James 5:12: “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” In that spirit, he sought to live with sincerity, steadiness, and a quiet consistency that those closest to him came to rely upon.

A Funeral Service will be held at New Covenant Community Church, 24211 S. McQueen Rd., Chandler, AZ 85249, on September 5, 2026, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and service to follow at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ 85248.
