

She graduated from Morton High School in Chicago, Illinois. Helen was a WWII bride married for 50 years, and traveled extensively as her husband was an officer instructor pilot for the Army Air Corp. Her first job was as a secretary at Sears Roebuck in Chicago. She then went on to be an administrator in both State and Federal government in Arizona for 40 years.
Helen loved Arizona, full of amazing trails and beautiful views perfect for her love of hiking. Her favorite hobby was baking, and she enjoyed cooking recipes that she learned from her mother. She loved crossword puzzles. Helen's favorite vacation spots include Rocky Point, Silverton, Colorado and Oregon beach cities. She was strong willed and highly intelligent. She excelled in her educational and work endeavors. She continued to drive her car well into her 90's.
Helen is survived by her children, Charlie Polenick of Vienna, Austria and Allan (Cynde) Polenick of Sedona, Arizona; her grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Polenick, of Astoria, Oregon.
At 103, Helen lived a long, full life and was active and sharp right up to the end, dying peacefully in her sleep.
