Helene Louise Keller

Helene Louise Keller - age 83, passed away in Mesa, AZ on Friday, February 28, 2014. She was born to Hans and Esther Schmidt on August 5, 1930 in Paullina, Iowa. After graduating from Hartley High School, she met and married, the love of her life, Duaine. The couple farmed in Melvin and Ocheyedan, Iowa for 27 years. Helene enjoyed being a wife, mother of five and a homemaker. In 1975 they retired to Arizona. They were able to take an African safari, several cruises and visit many friends and relatives. Retirement permited them time to bowl, play cards, dance, do crafts, and socialize with family and friends. Duaine passed away in 2007. Helene suffered a series of strokes in 2009 which left her right side paralyzed. On December 23, 2012 she moved into custom accommodations at her daughter Renita's home. She loved her “New Home” as she referred to it. The last several months Helene was surrounded by her family that she held so very dear. On February 28, 2014 she joined Duaine. She is survived by her children: Roxine Riordan (Michael) Mesa, AZ, Rennae Kruger (Michael) Mesa, AZ, Rosali Dudley (Dean) South Sioux City, NE, Rickey Keller (Charletta) Mesa, AZ and Renita Jurgensen(David) of Mesa, AZ, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Services will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road Chandler, AZ on Friday March 7 at 10:00.
