Howard Scherer, 91, died May 25, 2022, at his home with his family. Howard was born May 24, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. Howard served in the air force for 4 yrs, during the Korean War. He worked many years for Unisys as a mainframe computer engineer in McLean, Virginia.
Howard’s lifetime passion was for art. He studied at the New York Art League and the School of Industrial Arts in New York. Howard was the recipient of many awards and his work in pastels and oils had international recognition. His work exhibited in many galleries in Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betsy Rose Scherer, children Amy Scherer Hartnett, Jeffrey Scherer and wife, Nancy Scherer, and Douglas Scherer; his grandchildren, Jaclyne Scherer Faryna, her husband John, Adam Scherer, Ashley Scherer, Brooke Hartnett and great grandchild, Aurora Faryna. He was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua Scherer.
Funeral services were held June 1, 2022 at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, AZ.
