Ivan “Gene” Moore was born, May 5, 1935, on the Quechan Indian Reservation. He grew up in Yuma, Az, San Diego, Ca, and Puntarenas, Costa Rica. A Veteran of Vietnam, he joined the Army In 1952 at the age of 17, and worked for the Army Security Agency for the next 20 years.
He spent another 10 years working as a civilian for the Army at Yuma Proving Ground. An active man with a love of community, he was a member of the Optimus Club, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts of America where he is responsible for quite a few Eagle Scouts out there in the world. He was also a key player in the building of the Quechan Senior Center and the Quechan Eagle Veterans Memorial.
He met and married his wife Marietta in 1958 and they were together for 52 years until her passing in 2010.
Gene passed away on June 25th, 2017 at his home in Chandler, Az.
He is survived by his sons Tom, John, and Ivan as well as his grandchildren Calissa and Austin. There will be a public memorial at 3pm on July 22nd at the Quechan Senior Center in Yuma, Az.
