Family and friends are mourning the devastating loss of James Lee Duffield III. He passed away at age 56 on June 30, 2020 after a strong fight against cancer. James was born in Rome, New York on February 27th, 1964 to his parents Jeannette and James Duffield. He was the first born of 5 children: Lynn, John, Jean, and Joe.
Jim lived in Chandler, Arizona for the last 25 years- where he would persevere in helping build and dedicate his career to the family company in the aerospace industry, with much success. This is where he set his roots with the mother of his children, Shauna, to raise their two daughters, Brittainy and Megan. James also had the great fortune of becoming a grandfather to his first grandson Braxton, age 4.
James was a simplistic man that appreciated the true beauty of life. He took great pride in his work-ethic, values, and morals. With many interests and strengths, Jim was an avid gun collector, 2nd Amendment advocate, and proud patriot. He was the perfect music man that had a song for every mood and moment. He had a secret talent for art and poetry, and had an amazing eye for creativity. Jim’s intelligence and knowledge was impeccable- he loved learning, especially about history. He was a lifelong Oakland Raiders fan but had a special love for his home teams, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cardinals.
Among Jim’s many passions, there was nothing he loved more than being a father, and grandfather. The love he had for his family was insurmountable. He dedicated his 56 years to creating and shaping a safe, secure, and happy life for his girls. The light in his eyes and joy in his heart when he was around his kids was incomparable. His nieces and nephews also held a very special place in his heart. Jimmy will be fondly remembered by his family and friends, we will deeply miss his smile and heart of gold.
Jim is preceded in death by his father James Duffield Jr. and his brother John Duffield. He is survived by his two children and grandson.
Services will be held at 2pm on August 8th at The Valley of the Sun Mortuary/Cemetery, located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road in Chandler, Arizona 85248.
