

James Albert Loose, 83, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on April 30th, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. Jim was born on January 21, 1943, in Scottsbluff, NE, to Albert and Irene (Yakel) Loose.
Jim had a rich life full of family, farming, hard work, church, Bronco games, and Husker Nation. He grew up in Scottsbluff and enjoyed playing on his high school basketball team. After high school he attended WNCC where he earned an Associate of Science degree in engineering. After graduating he moved to Denver, CO to pursue his career at Mountain Bell Communications. His love of farming never went away, and he returned to Gering, NE to farm. He married the love of his life, Janet Joan Reichert, on August 26, 1979, in Scottsbluff, NE. He continued farming and raising his family. In 1986, Jim, Joan, Josh, and Jamie moved to Littleton, CO for him to return to his career in engineering. He worked for Mountain Bell which eventually became US West then Quest Communications. Jim worked for the phone company for 29 years before accomplishing his dream of retiring in AZ in 2005.
In 2002, Jim and Joan moved to Chandler, AZ to live the retirement life they had always dreamed of. He enjoyed golf, church, frequent trips to the casino, and eating out with family.
Of everything in Jim’s life, family was most important. He was married to Joan for 47 years and was a loving and devoted husband. Together they raised their four children and welcomed 6 grandchildren. Jim did all he could to ensure a good life for all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Loose; children, Rhonda (Leo) Johnston, Renee (Joe) Mejia, Josh (Kala) Loose, Jamie (John) Oliver; grandchildren, Derek, Juston, Jacee, Delaney, Carter, and Porter; sisters, Susan Maddox and Karen Rubottom; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Loose.
A celebration of life will be 10:00 am, Monday, May 18, 2026, at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E Riggs Rd, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.
