James Wesley McLaughlin, fondly known as "Wes," passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 60. A beloved son, brother, father, and friend. Born on June 17th 1966 to David and Kitty McLaughlin in Newark, Ohio.
A proud graduate from Licking Valley High School. Wes excelled in athletics playing football #22, and track. Everything he did was fueled by his positive attitude, determination and ability to encourage/motivate those around him. After high school, Wes went on to play football at Wilmington College. Later, he served in the Navy for the United States Armed Forces and Naval warfare supporting Special Operations. His time in the Navy remained an important part of who he was throughout his life. A devoted patriot, he held tremendous love and respect for his country.
In 1999, Wes moved to Arizona where this became his home. As he would say…”It’s like being on vacation everyday.” Wes never met a stranger and quickly became known throughout the Chandler community as a business supporter for the local Chamber of Commerce.
Wes had so many natural talents. He was very artistic, he loved deeply and was passionate about his family, friends, veterans and helping people feel better.
He will be remembered for his larger than life personality, magnificent sense of humor, loyalty, and genuine heart. He valued family, friends and community and had a remarkable ability to connect with people. His presence, laughter, and memorable conversations will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father David (Kathy) McLaughlin and step father Dan Hinkle. His beloved children Marissa McLaughlin, Anthony (Kaitlyn) Marcinkowski, Carson, Brennan and Tatum McLaughlin. All amazing children. Sister Wendy McBride, Nephews Jimmy and Michael. Brother Granger (MaryAnn) nephew and nieces Connor (Chloe), Lauren and Addison. And faithful companion Oakley. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, “Kitty” Katherine Carr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on August 25, 2026, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, Arizona 85248.
Burial will take place from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm on August 25, 2026, at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024, US.
