James Samuel Taylor Jr,77, passed away July 29th 2019 in Phoenix , AZ after a long battle with diabetes. Jim or Jimmy as friends called him was born June 22 , 1942 in Key West , FL to James and Margaret Taylor.
Jim grew up in Key West, FL surrounded by wonderful family and friends. His parents , James and Margaret , owned and operated Cities Service Station from 1955-1959. In 1960 they opened Poinciana Service Station on Duck Ave and operated at that location until 1975. Jim graduated from Key West High School in 1960. He worked along side his Father until 1967 when he went to work for Chevron Oil Company. Jim held a variety of positions in his 31 years with Chevron traveling the country and eventually retiring in California in 1998.
In 1984 Jim married Barbara Small and after retirement they settled in Phoenix AZ. Jim and Barbara enjoyed traveling in their RV, sharing time with their family, meeting new friends and discovering new places. Jim loved the Florida State University Football program and loved traveling to see them play. In later years Barbara took care of his extensive medical needs. Never complaining and always by his side. Jim and Barbara were married 35 years and he would often say his life would have been empty without her.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Barbara , brother Paul Taylor, 4 children James S Taylor III, Charles Taylor, Duane Taylor,Christina Strickland, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Along with numerous nieces and nephews Jim leaves behind extended families in Michigan, North Carolina, Indiana and Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray Taylor.
Services will be held August 10th at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights RD Chandler, AZ 85248.
