peacefully in Chandler, Arizona on January 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Janet was a beloved wife, mother,
and grandmother whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched countless lives.
Janet was born on May 19, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, to Byron Bruce Gilchrist and Emma Berniece
(Pfeiffer) Gilchrist. She was also a loving sister to Mary Alice Gilchrist. All three — her parents and sister
— preceded her in death, but their memory remained close to Janet's heart throughout her life.
Janet obtained a bachelor's degree from Indiana University, and a master's degree from the University
of Colorado, and was an elementary school teacher for several years.
On August 28, 1965, Janet married her husband of 59 years, John Michael Frost, and together they
shared a beautiful partnership built on love and cherished memories.
Janet was a proud and loving mother to her two daughters. Her love also extended to her four
cherished grandchildren.
Beyond her devotion to her family, Janet had a deep love for animals, especially her loyal dog, Archie,
who was her constant companion and source of joy.
Her home was a source of love and laughter. Janet had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and
valued, and her gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Janet is survived by her husband, John Michael Frost; her two daughters; her four grandchildren; and
her beloved dog, Archie. She also leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and many cherished
memories.
Though she is no longer with us, Janet’s love, warmth, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts
of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East
