Janet K. Prochot Peterson

Janet Katheryn Peterson, 76, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012, with family by her side at Chandler Regional Medical Center.

Janet was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 1, 1936. In 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Carl Roy Peterson, and they lived predominantly around the Chicago area. In 1997, they moved to Arizona. Janet was an incredible, giving person, a loving companion, and a wonderful mother. During her life, she helped to support her family and set an example of compassion, forgiveness, and integrity. Janet and her husband cherished each other, and together they built a loving home. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and spoke of them often. Janet took pleasure as a homemaker and was a tremendous cook. She also enjoyed movies, reading, and traveling with her husband.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Julia Prochot, her brother, Robert Prochot, and her sister, Francine Johnson. She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Carl Roy Peterson of Sun Lakes; three children, David (Sheri) Peterson of Edina, MN, Carla (Jeff) Bermes of Naperville, IL, and Kenneth (Laura) Peterson of Prior Lake, MN; and eight grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Peterson, Erick Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Tim Stanton, Molly Strickland, Emily Bermes, Zachary Peterson, and Alexandra Peterson. Besides her immediate family, Janet also leaves behind a number of cousins and close friends.

It is the wish of Janet and family that funeral services and interment be a private event. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the King of Glory Lutheran Church 2085 E. Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282.
