It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jean Waxman, a loving mother, aunt, sister, and friend, who left us at the age of 89 years young. Jean was a radiant light in every room, known for her infectious sense of humor and the boundless love she shared with everyone she encountered. Her boisterous and positive nature endeared her to family, friends, and even strangers, making her a cherished presence in the lives of many.
Jean was a loving wife to David Waxman, who passed away two years prior. Their enduring marriage remains a testament to the deep bonds that can be formed in life, and she will be reunited with him in spirit.
Jean had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. Always ready for a celebration, she thrived in the company of others, creating joyful memories that will be treasured forever. Her generosity was limitless; she was always there to lend a helping hand or offer wise advice, making her a trusted confidante to those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for animals was larger than life and she would volunteer, writing letters to Friends of Animals to obtain spay and neuter certificates for the neighborhood strays.
She is survived by her three children: Roberta; Linda, and her husband Duncan; and Bill, along with daughter-in-law Bonnie. Jean was also a proud grandmother to her six grandchildren: Liz, Tali, Luke, Ryan, Jared, and Jonathan.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Jean leaves behind her best friend and sister-in-law, Joan Wintman, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including those she was especially close to: Don and Wendy Wintman, Howard and Rhonda Wintman, and Michael and Laurie Wintman on her husband’s side, along with Michael and Harriet Astore on her side. Her brothers’ wives, Pat, Diane and June were also close allies.
Jean's heart was big enough to embrace her third family, the DiGeronimos, who meant the world to her. She shared a special bond with Patti DiGeronimo Miccile and her husband Tony Miccile, and she embraced their two children, Natalie and Nicholas, as her own grandchildren. Patti's brother Michael Digeronimo and his wife Sharon also meant so much to her as did their children. Jean was the last of eleven siblings to pass and I imagine there is quite the raucous reunion going on with them, as well as with her close friends Shirley (DiGeronimo), Marcia and Sandy.
She made some good friends in Arizona, most notably Barbara Keith, who served as both a friend and mentor. She remains close to both of Jean’s daughters.
As we all celebrate Jean's life, let us remember her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to our lives. Her memory will forever inspire us to cherish each moment, spread love, and embrace the joy of togetherness. Jean Waxman will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and laughter will live on in our hearts.
