

Joe F. Miller 82, of Casa Grande, AZ passed away May 24, 2013 following a long battle with diabetes. Mr. Miller was born Jan. 6, 1931 in Warren, Arkansas to John and Hamppie Miller. He married Mary Irene Magyar of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania November 25, 1950. He and his wife have five daughters, Mary Amos of Shumway, Arizona, Elizabeth Bryan of Casa Grande, Arizona, Nora Lynn Greenfield of Casa Grande, Arizona, Emily Jane Russ of Casa Grande, Arizona and Myra Jo Morris of Payson, Arizona. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of over 60 years as well as their 5 daughters and 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Frances Heintz of Stamps, Arkansas.
Mr. Miller was a member of the First Baptist Church in Casa Grande where he served as a Deacon. He served in the United States Army, 26th Regiment D Company of the Big Red One, serving in the European Theater. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Casa Grande and Tucson. He was also a member of the national order of Trench Rats, dugout 501, Glendale, Arizona, The American Legion #0049 of Stamps, Arkansas and of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Mr. Miller retired from the Casa Grande elementary school district in 1992.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM followed immediately by 11:00 AM Funeral Services on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona 85248. Pastor Dave Watson and Pastor Lonnie Gee will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery. There will be a 2:00 PM gathering for family and friends at the Casa Grande First Baptist Church, 222 E. 8th Street, Casa Grande, Arizona 85122.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Miller’s name to the First Baptist Church of Casa Grande Children’s Sunday School Department preferred.
