John Joseph Benedetto, age 89, passed away on October 1, 2026. Born January 12, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, he completed 14 years of education and carried those early foundations into a life marked by steady purpose and commitment. He was a resident of Sun Lakes, Arizona.
John served in the Marine Corp and later worked as an electrician, bringing discipline, skill, and pride to the work of building and maintaining what others depended upon. His professional life was further shaped by his connection to Electrical Union Local 134, reflecting a lasting respect for craft, standards, and the dignity of labor.
John was married to Carla Benedetto for 28 years. He is survived by his spouse, Carla Benedetto; daughter, Tricia McCurrie; sons, John Benedetto Jr., Scott Benedetto, and Jeffrey Benedetto; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, David Benedetto; his parents, Anthony and Lillian Benedetto; his sister, Nancy Benedetto; and his brothers, Anthony and Don Benedetto.
John found enjoyment and fellowship in the activities that brought people together—golf, softball, boating, and skiing—and he especially loved building, including his home and garage, places shaped by his hands and care. He also valued the bonds of community through the American Legion, his Catholic church, and the Gold League at Max Wellton, Syracuse, Indiana.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their care and support.
