Joy Dolin, 87, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Aaron. They met in high school and the rest, as they say, was history. She is survived by children Lynn (Ron), Marvin (Marie), and Scott (Kimberly); grandchildren David, Jon (Anna), Julianna (and the gerbils), Ben (Aimee) and Adam (Melissa); and great-grandchildren Sophie and Reese. Also sister Gail and brother-in-law Richard (Sandra), and cousins, nephews and nieces.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of Drexel University. After a short time living in Virginia, she and Aaron moved to New Jersey where they raised their family. In her late 30’s Joy returned to college and earned her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school in NJ for 20 years. She loved ballet, singing, Broadway shows, classical music, and anything Disney. There was always music playing in her house, whether from her collection of records or the local classical radio station.
After early retirements, Joy and Aaron moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona where they spent 27 years when not traveling the world. Their favorite places were Israel and Alaska. Joy was very active in her community and in Hadassah, serving as President of the Shalom chapter and on the regional board, and receiving a national award. She also volunteered numerous hours in Ballet Arizona’s Costume Shop. Sadly dementia intervened and limited her involvement in many activities.
Memorial gifts can be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, Jewish Family and Children’s Service, Jewish Free Loan, or your favorite community support or arts organization.
