Judith "Judy" Elaine Holcomb, 85, passed away on October 6, 2026. Born January 31, 1941, Judy was born in Bloomfield, Iowa to Dean and Catherine (Ralston) Mitchell. She was a resident of Florence, Arizona.
Throughout a life marked by steady purpose and perseverance, Judy carried herself with a quiet strength that met each season with resilience. Her faith was a sustaining presence, and in the way she showed up for others—consistently, thoughtfully, and without pretense—she became an enduring source of encouragement to those who knew her.
Judy devoted most of her working life to education, serving as a high school teacher and later instructing general education at the Florence Correctional Facility. Hard-working and steadfast, she brought dignity to her profession and treated learning as something worth protecting and sharing. Her commitment to teaching was more than a career; it was a calling she honored with diligence and care, leaving a lasting impression through the lives she helped shape.
Judy was married to Grant Holcomb for 58 years before his passing in 2024. She is survived by her children: Daughters, Kathryn Holcomb and Kerrie (Esteban) Ornelas; Son, Kevin (Nancy) Holcomb; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Beyond her work, Judy found joy and calm in the things she made and the worlds she explored. She loved crocheting, quilting, painting, and reading, and she carried the same patience and devotion into her personal interests that she brought to the classroom. In all she did, Judy’s example remained quietly inspirational—rooted in faith, strengthened by perseverance, and expressed through a life of consistent service.
