Kathleen M Maggio

Kathleen “Kathy” Malone Maggio passed away peacefully at home in Sun Lakes, Arizona on Saturday, June 29, 2013. She was born in LaSalle, Illinois on February 28, 1943 to Warren and Margaret (Hughes) Malone. She was married to John Maggio, her high school sweetheart, in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 29, 2008. They had their marriage blessed at St. Steven’s Catholic Church, Sun Lakes, AZ on January 29, 2009.

Kathy was a 1961 graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School, LaSalle, IL. Upon completion of IBM school in Chicago, IL she worked for State Farm Insurance for 39 years, beginning in Bloomington, IL and retiring from State Farm in Arizona on February 28, 2005.

She was an active member of St. Steven’s Catholic Church where she recited the rosary at Saturday mass. She was also active in the East Valley Marine Corps League, where she was recognized for her volunteer work for the League as well as for the VA Hospital in Phoenix. She was an avid golfer and was a member of both Ironwood and Oakwood Ladies’ Golf Leagues, where she held various board positions, as well as serving as Captain of the Ironwood Ladies Golf Association traveling team for several years.

She is survived by her husband’s children John A. Maggio, Peru, IL, Tammy Rowe, Sunbury, PA and Lisa Snelling, Clearwater, FL, sister-in-law Dorene (Dan) Reichen, Utica, IL and Pearl (Jim) Lushina, Hillsboro, OR and a cousin Patricia Hughes, Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Kathy had many great friends in Sun Lakes and we will miss her dearly.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Steven’s Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes, AZ. There will be a rosary at 9:30 am followed by a memorial mass at 10:00 am.
