Katy Maureen Truman

Katy Maureen Truman, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 78. She was born on February 10, 1945 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She spent much of her life in New Mexico but enjoyed living in Chandler, Arizona for the last twenty-five years.

Katy had a passion for shopping and found delight in combing through sale racks and bringing home bargains. She loved painting and found a lot of comfort and happiness in it. Katy also loved to cook for her family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved to host all of the family on Christmas Eve and made sure that everyone had a present to open. Her love of the sea drew her often to Rocky Point, Mexico where she enjoyed many memorable vacations with family.

Katy was devoted to her family and is survived by her beloved husband, Malcolm Truman of Chandler, and her children, Karin Telles of Mesa, Angela Fullerton (Brandon Bearden) of Carbondale, CO, Nick Chermela of Flatrock, NC, and Allen Spencer of Chandler. She is preceded in death by her son, Scott Spencer. Katy’s memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Lindsay, Noah, Celeste, Elizabeth, James, Jacob, and Loki. Katy was a nurturing and loving presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Katy is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Garrett of Alamogordo, NM, her sister, Lynn (John) Trice of Chandler, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jane Mahaffey and Allen Garrett.

Services for Katy will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248 on Monday, January 15, 2024 with visitation at 12 pm noon, graveside service at 1 pm with a reception/lunch following.

Katy had a life filled with love, laughter, and precious memories. We'll really miss having her around, but her spirit will keep shining in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
