La Verne Stahl

LaVerne Barbara Stahl, known to close friends and family as “Vernie”, passed away on January 27, 2011 in Tempe, Arizona. She was 81 years old. LaVerne was born on August 24, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. She and her husband, the late Harold Stahl, moved to Arizona in 1980 to be close to their two children who had already relocated there. Harold and LaVerne were married 42 years before Harold’s passing. LaVerne’s deep love for the Lord and her family was evident to those who knew her, even to those whom she briefly met. She also loved to travel, solve crossword puzzles and bake. Her baked goods were enjoyed and appreciated by all who tasted them and her recipes will be carried on to future generations. LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Pamela Wojtkun, and son-in-law, Rick, of Queen Creek, Arizona and by her son, Patrick Stahl, and daughter-in-law, Mary, of Phoenix, Arizona. Her sisters, Betty Orton, Margaret Butzu and Helen Lantz, of Detroit, Michigan also survive her. Her two grandchildren, Courtney and Michael Stahl, are also alive and well, helping to carry on her memory.

Viewing will be held at 10a.m. followed by the service at 11a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Valley of the Sun Funeral Home, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler, AZ 85248.
