Sunset on Lawrence Ambrose McDaniels was March 22, 2021 at Dignity Health Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona. Sunrise for Lawrence was October 2, 1942 to Helen and Elmer McDaniels in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of Saint Procopius Academy in 1960. He worked for 30 years for Bridgestone America’s as a mechanical engineer after spending time in the Air National Guard, Army National Guard, and the United States Air Force. The training he received from the military and from Bridgestone gave Larry a wonderful knack for solving problems, using unfamiliar tools, and analyzing things.
He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Elmer McDaniel’s and his sisters Josephine, Mary, and Victoria.
He is survived by his wife Patricia and his two sons from a previous marriage, Robert (Cindy) and Doug; grandsons Robert Zachary (Joy) and Austin; granddaughters Hallie and Bailey; great-granddaughter Nora and his sisters Delores (Wes) Robideau, Rita (Donald) Lundeen, Louise McDaniels, Paula (Al) Weisman, Lydia McDaniels, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins of many generations.
Patricia and Larry were inseparable and supported each other in all their endeavors and community organizations. This blended family included Patricia’s daughters: Tammie Whitfield, Demiatris Jones; her granddaughters Darren Tapia (Sean), Tanaya Jones; grandsons Darius Jones and Isaiah Robinson; her great-grandchildren Emma and Elis Tapia. All will miss Larry and his humor, his knowledge, and his soft heart.
Larry’s absence is deeply felt, and the rhythm of all our lives has changed, but one day we will all have the joy he now has.
