

Lola Jean Stanley, age 80, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on September 18, 2023. Lola was born in Preston, Iowa on February 9, 1943 to Reynold and Adeline Stoltz. She graduated from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1964.
Lola was married to Donald W. Stanley for 56 years. She met Don in St. Louis where she began her career in nursing. Lola was a Head Nurse at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City before her, and her family moved to Arizona in 1983. She retired in an administration position with the State of Arizona Public Health after 50 years in the industry. Lola was very proud that her grand-daughter, Maya, is pursuing a nursing career also.
She was a member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe for 40 years. Lola's favorite pastime was playing Bingo, which she did at many of Arizona's Casinos. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steele books and loved going to the movies on a Saturday afternoon. Lola enjoyed traveling, her favorite destinations were Puerto Rico, Germany, Spain, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas and visiting her son and his family in Colorado. She loved to give unique gifts to her family, friends and coworkers. She would bring back trinkets and gifts from her travels to give to office mates and friends.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents, Reynold W. Stoltz and Adeline Hagge.
She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Stanley of Chandler, Arizona; her son Frank Stanley (Krista) of Fort Collins, Colorado; Granddaughter Maya Stanley of Fort Collins, Colorado; her sister Nancy Kortuem and her family of Mankato, Minnesota.
An intimate graveside service for Lola will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Lola at a later date.
