

Lucy Ann Campanella McPherson, 73, of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2011. She was born in Oakmont, Pennsylvania on June 5, 1938 to Augustina (Agnes) Marie Vaianisi and Joseph Anthony Campanella. Her brother, Joseph Campanella, and step father Thomas Giovengo predeceased her. Lucy and her beloved and devoted husband, John (Jack) Warren McPherson, were married on July 23, 1955. They moved to Washington, DC in 1957. In 2000, Jack and Lucy retired to Sun Lakes. Lucy is survived by her husband Jack of 56 years; her son, Scott of Scottsdale, Arizona; her daughter, Paula, and son-in-law, Larry Widerlite of Bethesda, Maryland; four grandchildren, Mark, Mercedes, Elise and Chelsea; many nephews and nieces; her adored brother-in-law James McPherson; and her precious pet, Sassy. Lucy, to all who knew her, was quick to charm and the life of the party. She melded her love of staying connected with her deep abiding interest in healthcare. From her early days as a hospital volunteer, she blossomed to ultimately become Director of Communications at Southern Maryland Hospital Center where she designed and implemented a state-of-the-art telecommunications system. She was the consummate communicator in every way, and always had a phone within her grasp. She loved music, and found humor in everyday life and she especially cherished time spent with her family and friends. Her husband, children and grandchildren miss her infectious laugh, witticisms, storytelling and her warm heart.
