Luis “Louie” Cardenas was born in Mesa, Arizona, on June 7, 1956, the second child of Luis and Consuelo Cardenas. Louie entered heaven’s gates peacefully on August 27, 2026. He lived his entire life in Historic South Chandler.
Louie is survived by his siblings, Ilario “Larry” Cardenas, Xavier “Leo” Cardenas, Lorenzo “Lencho” Cardenas, Jaime Cardenas, Maria “Mickey” Cardenas, and Delia Cardenas, as well as 41 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Consuelo Cardenas; his sisters, Herlinda “Linda” Silva and Gloria “Goya” Cardenas; his brother, Benjamin Cardenas; and his niece, Monique Silva Camarena.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Louie loved working with his beloved Snap-On tools, shovels, hammers, hatchet, cooking disc, or anything to do with a Mesquite Fire. Louie always joked that while he had many friends, his actual “best friend” was his wallet.
Well-known in the South Chandler community, Louie always had a smile on his face and was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His presence would light up any room or gathering—whether he was invited or not! That was simply who he was. Louie’s gentle soul touched countless lives, whether he was giving wagon rides to his nieces and nephews, helping a neighbor plant a tree, or quietly helping clean up after events in Downtown Chandler without ever being asked.
The world was a truly better place with him in it, and he will be deeply missed. Louie’s spirit will live on with every burning mesquite fire, every tree his hands touched, and every spoonful of menudo.
