Martie owned her own beauty shop in Mishawaka until her retirement and moved to Florida. She enjoyed gardening, painting and was very artistic as was shown by the many paintings, flower arrangements and pieces she refurbished in her home. Martie was very much in fashion, beauty and loved her jewelry. One of her favorite pastimes was attending the auction every week in Fanning Springs.
She is survived by her sons Rodney Bendit (Bernadette) and Keith Bernicky (Nancy); grandchildren, K.P. Bernicky, Jessie Bernicky, Alexa Bendit and Damien Bernicky; and a number of great grandchildren. She is predeceased by grandson Adam Bernicky and husband James P. Bernicky who she married on April 15, 1968.
