Margaret “Maggie” Ann Schaefer, age 60, passed away on May 6, 2026. Born on December 28, 1965, in Ridgewood, NJ, Maggie’s life was one deeply beloved and sincerely cherished—held close by those who knew her best and loved her most. She resided in Show Low, Arizona.
Maggie earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Arizona University and went on to work as an investor. Through every season of life, she carried herself in ways that left people feeling valued—her presence a steady reminder of how much warmth and love can live in a single heart.
Sick from the age of six, Maggie learned early how to shape a full and meaningful life within the limits of her energy. In the quiet joys she chose, her spirit shone: cross-stitch, reading, and the comfort of a good television series. She shared a love of sci-fi books with her brother Larry, and delighted in fantasy and paranormal books with her sister Amy. Among her favorites were the Irish Doctor series, the Mitford Series, and, most recently, LitRPG books.
Though a fussy eater, Maggie took genuine pleasure in watching culinary cooking and baking shows. She also loved Downton Abby, Call the Midwife, the Amazing Race, and competition shows featuring pottery, sewing, wood working, Lego, Domino, and glass blowing. She loved trees, almost anything made from wood, and the color brown in all its shades—simple comforts that, in her hands, became a kind of celebration of the world’s everyday beauty.
In recent years, Maggie fulfilled a bucket-list dream, traveling to Ireland, Germany, and Luxembourg—the countries from which her ancestors emigrated. And in a gift that will be remembered with gratitude for years to come, she brought her family together in Galveston, Texas, for a reunion to celebrate her 60th birthday—an occasion made brighter by her care, her effort, and her love. Most of all, Maggie dearly loved her family, friends, and dogs.
Maggie was a member of the Catholic Church.
Maggie is survived by her great niece and nephews, Ethan, Raiden, Zander, and Hope; her sisters, Amy and Katie; her sister-in-law Patti; her brother Eric; her brother in law Gary; her sister in law Teresa; her nephew John; and her nieces, Amber, Rebecca, Becky, Stephanie, and Krissy.
