Marian Krueger

Marian L. Krueger (Birkle-Garrettson) 82, died peacefully June 7, 2015, at her home in Gilbert, AZ. Marian was born April 6, 1933, in Gate, Oklahoma, to Carl and Mary Birkle. In 1969 William (Bill) Garrettson and Marian made the move to Arizona with their four children; Jim, Bill, Becky and Tanya. Immediately upon arriving in Arizona, Marian began work at Motorola and spent 25 years there before retiring to spend more time with family.

In 2003, Marian and Stan Krueger were married. Both Marian and Stan loved to travel, including many cruises of all kinds, hosting dinners for their children and grandchildren, and spending evenings watching the Diamondbacks.

Marian was a very talented painter in the earlier years, long before grandchildren and sports. As life got busier, she turned that talent to sewing for all the kids. You could find her in her sewing room cutting out a new pattern and sewing late into the night. And although Marian enjoyed sewing, Marian’s true passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday party, dance recital, softball game, volleyball game, golf tournament or baseball game. And more importantly, Marian was truly devoted to her church and The Lord. With a bible on every table, end-table and nightstand, she always had a verse for encouragement. If you asked Marian to pray for you, you knew from that moment on your were in her prayers; always and forever. Her faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior was unwavering. It was Marian’s faith that got her through the battles she fought with her health these past two years.

Marian is survived by her husband, Stan Krueger, her son William Garrettson, (Pam), daughters Rebecca Beck (Harry), and Tanya Doane (David). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jaime, Jalen, Jillian, Jessica, Lauren, Taryn and Garrett, and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Declan, Cody, Brennan and Grant. Marian was preceded in death by her oldest son, James Donald Garrettson.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church Sun Lakes, 9535 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ, 85248, on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ, 85248. www.valleyofthesunfuneralhome.com
