Marilyn loved children and was passionate about her work. She spent many nights and weekends decorating her classroom so that her students would have a happy, welcoming environment.
She moved to Arizona in 1997 where she met, and married Edward Murgia. They were happily married for 23 years. She and Ed loved traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She continued to work well into her eighties for Pearson, as a scorer for national standardized testing for the public school system.

Marilyn had a wry sense of humor and loved to joke with everyone; she was a joker right up until the end.
