

Marlene F. Schroeder ‘Peggy’ went home to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Life Care Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was born in Lloyd, Wisconsin on October 8th, 1926 to Glen A. and Cecil P. (Woodruff) Johnston.
Marlene and her husband, Norbert E., were wed January 14, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
in Wonewoc, Wisconsin and were married for 56 years. They worked a dairy farm near Wonewoc, Wisconsin until 1967. They both worked for Ed Kraemer and Sons Road Construction Company, traveling in their motor home, for 20 years. Marlene was a cook and bookkeeper. They retired and traveled the country in their motor home, settling in Apache Junction, Arizona in 1988. She sang in the church choir, was part of a quilting group, did arts, crafts, and crocheting, enjoyed playing cards, games, traveling and fishing with friends and family. After her husband passed away in 2003, she moved to Sierra Vista, living in Sierra Vista Mobile Home Village and then with her daughter, Barbara and family. She enjoyed family and church activities; her favorite being Angel Tree Ministries.
Marlene is survived by: her three children Barbara J. Steward (Glenn) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Linda A. Scheer (Larry) of San Jose, California, Brian Schroeder (Diane) of Madison, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one sister Carol Borud (Lyle) of Irrigon, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Lucky. She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Norbert E. Schroeder, her sister Rosemary Lewis, and her brother Glen Johnston, Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012, with visitation at 12:30 and service starting at 1 PM at Shiloh Christian Ministries, 1519 Avenida del Sol, Sierra Vista, with Pastor Carolyn Tumpkin officiating. Immediately following is a reception to be held at Shiloh Christian Ministries, 200 North Avenue, Sierra Vista. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 1 PM at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.
