She was born on March 19, 1958 in Huntington County in the little town of Everett, Pennsylvania. She moved to Chandler with her family in the early ‘70s and graduated from Chandler High in 1976. After high school, she started working at Rogers Corporation as a draft person, to which I credit to her excellent penmanship. There she met her current husband Rick which started a friendship that lasted 38 years. After 20 years at Rogers, she accepted a position at the Center for the Arts in the City of Chandler. She then transferred to the planning and zoning department where she worked for the next 30 years, and was responsible for addressing for all new residential and commercial developments in Chandler.
She was a wonderful person and got along with everybody she met. She enjoyed the simple things in life, was a crossword puzzle queen, and she got great joy from couponing. She would come home to show off the long store receipts and how much money she saved. We would have breakfast together every morning and talk about current events. She loved reading Dear Abby columns and some of the ridiculous problems people would write about. She loved camping. Our favorite spot was a remote place near Payson, where we would bring the latest smut magazines to catch up on useless information. She was a wonderful cook. Her favorites were balsamic chicken, an excellent baked potato soup, or anything she could throw in a crockpot. She could make 4-5 meals out of a Costco chicken and still have enough to feed our dog Taeo. Through our marriage we were blessed to have 3 wonderful Akitas—Tani, Alli, and Taeo, who she loved immensely. She loved a good glass of wine as long as it came from a box. Our biggest pride and joy was the birth and raising our daughter, Sara. She just loved being a mom and was damn good at it.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Rick, Daughter Sara, sisters Donna and Ruth, brother Richard, sister-in-law Joy and many nieces and nephews. There will be a service on June 1, 2024 at 12pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary on 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.
