

Mary Skousen, 67, of Gilbert, passed away after a lengthy illness on October 15, 2012, with family at her side. Mary is survived by her husband of 26 years, Donald L. Skousen; son Daniel R. (Jeannie) Moore; daughter, Mary C. DeWitte; daughter, Lani E. (Wade) Hildebrant; son, Paul E. Moore; step-sons, Grant (Keri) Skousen and Gerry (Michelle) Skousen; step-daughters, Dona (Scott) Gay and Sarah (Tom) Tippetts; six siblings: Sue Crouse, William Maas, John Maas, James Maas, Joseph Maas, and Thomas Maas; and 27 grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Verena (Schmenk) Maas; her brother, Donald Maas; and her grandson, Aiden DeWitte. Mary was born in Lima, Ohio and moved to Arizona as a youth, growing up in Tempe. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitative Counseling, Mary founded the Heritage Center in Gilbert, assisting many clients in finding restoration and strength. Outside of her professional career, her hobbies and interests were many, including woodworking, sewing, stained glass, painting, and many other creative, industrious endeavors. Her talents yielded many gifts to children, grandchildren, family, and friends, which are now treasured heirlooms. Services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012, 2:00PM at First Baptist Church Chandler, 3405 S. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 85248, followed by a private inurnment at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler.
