

Meddie Lee Harper was born on December 25, 1926 in Braxton, Mississippi, to the union of Willie Estus and Limmie Robinson Harper. From this union, Meddie was the oldest of twelve children. At an early age, he realized the need for a personal Savior, accepted Christ and was baptized at Taylor Hill Baptist Church in Braxton, Mississippi, by Rev. Bridges. He was also a member of Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, California.
Meddie acquired basic academic education and training from Piney Woods Country Life School in Rankin County, Mississippi. After graduation, he was enlisted in the United States Army, which he remained for 18 months. Shortly after returning home to Mississippi, Meddie relocated to California, where he worked for Southern Railroad. In 1969 he began his career with Alameda County, Juvenile Probation Division, as a Transportation Officer. He retired from Alameda County after devoting twenty years of exemplary employment.
In 1991, Meddie and Jacqueline Wright were introduced to each other in Oakland, California by mutual friends. This initial connection blossomed and they were united in holy matrimony on December 27, 1998 in Phoenix, Arizona. They shared an abundance of love and happiness until his death.
Meddie made his transition from earth to glory and fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 10, 2014 at 12:00 (noon). Leaving to cherish his life and many precious memories: his wife of 15 ½ years, sons Gaylyn Holloway (Sharon) and Mario Harper (Paula Nedelcoff); daughter Rene Augustine Harper; step son James Crowell (Jamime), step daughter Janell Wilcox (Eddie III), grandchildren, Angela Harper (Reginald), Morgan Harper, Eric Augustine, Kevin, Vanessa, Porshe, Holloway, Malorie Hollingshead (Aries), Eddie Wilcox IV, Randi Calvin, Eric Wilcox, great grandchildren, Anthony Anderson, Nia Williams, Isaiah Jennings, Taylor Harper, Brennen Calvin; two brothers Charlie (Annie Mae) and Estus (Ida); three sisters Billie Carter, Laura Williams and Linda May (Isadore); sisters in law Bertha, Dorothy, Lucille, and Linda Harper; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition, Meddie had several siblings, five brothers and one sister, which preceded him in death: David, Ernest, Etoy, Lessie, Fred and Ruth Harper.
