A resident of Chandler, Arizona, Chunky will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady effort, enduring strength, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
From his earliest years in Oklahoma, Chunky’s character was shaped by family and responsibility. He grew up among a large circle of siblings—six sisters and three brothers—an upbringing that helped form the steadfast resolve and perseverance that would remain evident throughout his life.
Chunky served in the U.S. Army, answering the call to duty with quiet determination. He later worked as a truck driver, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and reliability—day after day, mile after mile, providing through honest labor and persistence.
Chunky's greatest devotion was to his family. He was married to DeWanda Lee (Kennedy) Sims for over 70 years, a remarkable partnership defined by constancy and care. Together they raised their children—daughters Debbie and Vanessa, and sons Danny and Greg—and took pride in a growing legacy of 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Chunky was preceded in passing by his son, Danny, in 2017.
Chunky will be remembered for the resilience he carried through life, the dedication he showed in service and work, and the enduring love he gave to his family.
