A Tribute to Neal Edward McLoughlin
What is there to say about a man who touched so many hearts through his lifetime. He was treasured by all that got to know him. He was so loving, dedicated, selfless, dependable, and would find humor in any situation. Never saying no to a family member, friend, or neighbor in need. He would make friends everywhere, even on vacation. So easy to talk to, a big open hearted teddy bear. The kind of guy that makes everyone feel like family.
He loved animals, he’s had 4 cats in AZ, Kunu is his big guy. Wherever Neal went, Kunu would follow. Their favorite time was late night when Kunu would lay on his chest and purr, while fluffing the blanket with his happy paws.
Neal adored sci fi like Star Trek and Star Wars. Neal and his brother Eric knew them all by heart. No matter how old they are, Neal never stopped being a big brother to Eric. Neal also loved comedy movies, three favorites were Cool Runnings, Ghostbusters, and Saving Sarah Marshall.
Music was special to Neal. He started out playing clarinet in school before transitioning to drums and guitar. Uncle Ronny was an inspiration for Neal, he loved playing with him. He always marveled at Ronny’s talent. If he wasn’t playing music, he was listening to it or going to a concert. Music was also essential when he wanted to get in the zone, he’d throw Bach on his headphones and program for hours.
He had a love for anything computer or electronics related, including many video games. He forged many friendships online, just being himself. A computer geek that loved music, history, and strategy games. He deconstructed and re-engineered his 1st computer, a commodore 64, much to his mother’s horror. He loved to know how it all worked and how he could improve it. His followed his passion throughout his career, learning more with every job. His favorite jobs were with Bill Strachan and Phil Lulek, his best mentors. Just 2 years ago he partnered up with Chris Lulek and his wife Jennifer to create a new company in Phil’s honor. He was back in his element and inspired to write new software, starting a business was scary but they handled the challenges together.
Everything that Neal did in life spoke to his character. He will be celebrated forever.
Neal survived the loss of his son, Brendan, in 2006. Neal is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his mother Judy, his brother Eric, his stepfather Ron, and his mother-in-law Tracy. The untimely death of Neal is grieved by his family and friends who will miss him until they are reunited.
