Necolai Knut Wendelboe IV

Nick was born on January 14, 1953, in Warren, Pennsylvania, to Nick Wendelboe III and Jane L. (Hinchliffe) Wendelboe. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lynn (Wendelboe) Rife.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nita (Freeman) Wendelboe. The two were married on July 20, 1975, and shared nearly 51 years of marriage together. He is also survived by his son, Necolai Knut Wendelboe V; his daughter, Katherine L. (McIntosh) Wendelboe; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss him.

A 1971 graduate of Warren Area High School, Nick went on to study Business for four years at Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, where he pledged the Kappa Alpha Phi fraternity. In his early years, he worked alongside his family at Wendelboe's Store in Warren, learning the value of hard work and dedication that would define his life.

In 1986, Nick relocated to Arizona, where he pursued new opportunities and built the foundation for what would become a remarkable career. In 1991, he founded NKW, Inc., a commercial construction company that earned a reputation for excellence, integrity, and quality.

As Owner and President, Nick built not only a successful business but also lasting relationships throughout the construction industry. He was respected by clients, competitors, and employees alike for his deep knowledge, honesty, and unwavering commitment to quality.

In 2018, after nearly three decades of leadership, he proudly sold the company to his employees before retiring, ensuring the business he built would continue in the hands of those who helped make it successful.

An athlete in his youth, Nick competed in wrestling and played both football and basketball. In later years, he found enjoyment on the golf course and took pride in his collection of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Those who knew Nick will remember him as a man of integrity, hard work, and courage. He believed in treating people fairly, standing by his word, and leading by example. His personal motto, "Do the right thing," was more than a saying—it was the principle by which he lived every day.

Nick's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the business he built, the people he mentored, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, character, and example.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
