Teacher’s Prayer

I want to teach my children how To live this life on earth, To face its struggles and its strife And to improve their worth. Not just the lesson in a book Or how the rivers flow, But how to choose the proper path Wherever they may go. To understand eternal truth And know right from wrong, And gather all the beauty of A flower and a song. For if I help the world to grow In wisdom and in grace, Then I shall feel that I have won And I have filled my place. And so I ask Your guidance, God, That I may do my part, For character and confidence And happiness of heart. ~James J. Metcalf

I was just thinking of him the other day...I had Mr. McVickers as my homeroom and shop teacher during my 7th grade year at Apache Junction, AZ. He was one of my favorite teachers. I still have the shelf that I made in his shop class and he was the teacher that nominated me for the Spelling Bee that year. I'm sure he probably regretted it when I messed up on the word "alcohol"...lol. You will be missed, Mr. McVickers! My prayers and condolences to his family...

My condolences to Daryla, Angelo, Nick Jr, Jared and Heath...we go way back, so many memories have been going through my head lately. From the couples weekend at Embassy suites with your Dad, Bev, Jeff, myself and Mike & Terry Carden (your Dad came back to the table with 10 margaritas on the tray thinking he brought them to share, then laughing when he said they were all for him), our families living across from each other on 22nd street watching each of you grow up. Both Nick and Jeff coaching the boys, Nick helping me by picking up Bridgette 'Bardot' from school and making Heath sit in the back seat (Heath wasn't happy) I could go on and on but just know he loved his family so much! Its evident in the pictures. I wish I could be there to hug each of you but need to social distance for me/my family. Love to each of you. Tina 'Bell'

So sorry to hear this. Nick was a wonderful principal when I was teaching 3rd grade at SMES in the mid 90's. Such a sweet man with a huge heart! He will surely be missed. My heart goes out to his loved ones. May you find peace, comfort, and strength in God's arms at this time.
