Patricia L. Fontana passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord with her family by her side on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Fontana, brother Robert Kushner, cat Cleopatra, and many friends & extended family.
Patricia was born and raised in Pennsylvania. After initially working as an airline teletype operator, she relocated to upstate New York where she continued her studies to earn a Masters Degree. Patricia taught Special Education students for 20+ years, and she was chosen as her district's Teacher of the Year.
After retiring to sunny Arizona, Patricia maintained her educational drive by volunteering with the New Adventures In Learning (NAIL) program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She was also a charter member of the SunBird Lions Club. She loved the mysteries of life, finding physics and science fascinating subjects to debate for hours.
Patricia's inquisitive spirit, MacGyver-ingenuity, and positive outlook, along with her Catholic faith, enabled her to overcome the countless medical obstacles she battled throughout her life. Originating with rheumatoid arthritis as a teenager, she found strength and support through the Virgin Mary during her difficult and challenging times. She is now dancing with the angels in Heaven.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248
