Pearl Ruth Little
March 3, 1922 – June 9, 2018
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away on June 9th, 2018 at the age of 96. She was born on March 3rd, 1922 in Mill Run Pennsylvania. She was born to John Henry Stark and Cora Ellen Daniels. She was number 8 of 10 children and had a handful of other step- brothers and sisters. In her memoirs she vividly describes her early years growing up on the farm. She could sit and tell stories for hours about her childhood and how she helped raise her siblings. At the age of 18 she moved to Cleveland Ohio where she met her husband Richard Little who was serving in the United States Army. They married on May 15th, 1945. They raised two loving children Dale and Roger in Youngstown Ohio. Her second son Roger was born with down syndrome. Pearl devoted her time advocating and fighting for handicap rights. She even assisted in opening a school for handicap children in Youngstown Ohio and a sheltered workshop years later in Mesa Arizona where her family finally settled. Dale had four daughters of his own: April, Rebecca, Megan and Amanda. Soon after, Dale’s last daughter was born in 1990, Pearl’s son Roger and then husband Richard passed away. She lived on caring for her grandchildren, creating a lifetime of memories for them to cherish. In her later years in life, Pearl was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Mason, Gunner and Grayson. Pearl was a problem-solver, she was always reading, learning, and teaching. She was a spiritual woman who was very involved with her church Velda Rose United Methodist. She loved baking, gardening, crossword puzzles, sewing, collecting gemstones and making jewelry and costumes. What gave her the most joy in life was taking care of her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandsons. She will be remembered for her selflessness, gracious hospitality, strength and her gentle soul. She never complained when times were tough and always looked to a better future. Pearl was never seen for anything but strong, even in the last moments of her life.
