A memorial service for Ralph E. Finney will be held at 1 pm, Friday April 11, at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler AZ. A reception will follow the service. Internment will be at 2:30 pm at their Garden Walk.
Born and raised in Denver to Ralph Sr. and Gay Finney, Ralph Jr. went on to graduate from Colorado University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Shortly after graduation, Ralph married Patricia Wilfley and they established their home in Los Angeles California, where he eventually settled in a position as an Aeronautical Engineer with the Aerospace Corporation. Ralph and Pat raised their children on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It was during this time he enjoyed coaching baseball, family vacations and the beach. In 1972 he was transferred to the Seattle area were he made his home in Bellevue Washington. There he finished raising his family, golfing, travelling and loving on his grandchildren. In 1997 Ralph retired from Aerospace and soon after took up permanent residence in Sun Lakes, Arizona where he has resided until now.
Ralph will be missed by many. He was a great dad, grandfather and friend. He truly enjoyed people and believed in and encouraged everyone that he would meet. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia and son Peter. His survivors include his daughter Elizabeth (Roy) Matson, grandchildren Nathaniel (Annelise) Matson and Melinda (John) Michaud, and special friend Joyce Eagle.
