Randy was born in Detroit, MI to Richard and Katherine Johnson. He had 2 siblings Roger and Martha. After high school, Randy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Midway and the U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower. Among the many countries he visited, was the Philippines, where he met the love of his life, Florie. After 20 years of proudly serving his country, Randy retired as a Senior Chief from the U.S. Navy. During his well deserved retirement in Florida and Arizona, Randy enjoyed a slower pace of life that included fishing, camping, cookouts, reading, watching football and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Randy's somewhat stern demeanor and voice of authority lead his grandkids to give him the suitable name "Grumpy", which he wore like a badge of honor.
Randy is survived by his wife of 39 years Florie, his 3 sons: Darrell, Scott and Brian; his 3 daughters-in-law: Aimee, Vanessa, and Kathleen; and his 9 grandchildren: Nathaniel, Tyler, Taylor, Gabriel, Logan, Daniel, Madison, Maxon and Savannah.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 25th, 10:00am at Sun Lakes Chapel of all Faiths in Sun Lakes, Arizona.
~ No Regrets
Why did you have to leave?
Why couldn't you just believe.....
Why didn't you have any hope?
Why couldn't we help you cope.....
Why must it all come to an end?
Now our hearts must learn to mend.....
So many questions run through our mind.
But really, there aren't answers, so just be kind;
to ourselves and to each other, for we only have one father and one mother.
Although we may feel regret and deep deep sorrow,
We must know that no one is promised tomorrow.
We must live life to the fullest and with passion,
Casting visions and dreams for our children,
So that our memories will carry great comfort and be ever lasting.....
