Raymond John Gronemeyer, age 78, passed away on March 24, 2026. He was born on March 21, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, to Raymond and Virginia (Reinke) Gronemeyer. After being raised in Commerce, Michigan, Ray built a life defined by being generous, hard-working, honest, humorous, and kind-hearted, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ray served his country as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 31 years to Ford Motor Company, working as a Job Setter before retiring after a long and steady career marked by commitment and pride in his work.
On October 6, 1973, Ray married Nancy Romej in Monroe, Michigan. Together, Ray and Nancy welcomed two children, daughter Lisa and son RJ, and built a family life rooted in love and perseverance. Ray and Nancy also lived and raised their children on a farm in Belleville, Michigan, where the family operated a vegetable stand from their farm for many years—work that reflected Ray’s steady nature and the value he placed on providing for others.
Ray found joy in simple pleasures and time well spent. He loved hunting as one of his favorite pastimes, and he also enjoyed watching old movies, especially westerns with John Wayne.
Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; his daughter, Lisa (John) Edmonds; his son, RJ Gronemeyer; and his grandchildren, Bryson and Brianna.
No services for Ray are scheduled at this time.
