Reid passed away Saturday, June 6th, 2026. He was 58 years old.
Born Reid Fletcher Davis on September 30, 1967, he would jokingly profess that “ he was an immaculate conception.” Reid was the first of two children, the eldest son of James Fletcher Davis and Judy Davis-Burr. He was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, while his father attended the University of Arkansas.
Reid and I first met in 1986 through a large circle of mutual friends. At the time, we were both dating other people, but with each chance encounter, a quiet fondness began to grow. Before long, I found myself just happening to be wherever Reid might be, hoping for another “accidental” encounter and another conversation. Fate eventually gave an even better reason to spend time together when we began working together, and what started as friendship quickly became something much deeper. Day by day, we became inseparable. Though we kept our relationship a secret from our friends for a time, it was impossible to hide forever. When we finally shared the news, not everyone approved, but by then it no longer mattered. We were hopelessly, wholeheartedly in love, and we never looked back.
From that beginning grew a love story that would span decades—built on devotion, laughter, friendship, and a bond that only grew stronger with time. My marriage to Reid lasted 37 beautiful years, beginning in Kansas City, Missouri, then continuing to Westminster, Colorado, and eventually Chandler, Arizona. Our marriage blessed us with two beautiful children, Mayson Fletcher (May) and Katheryn Marie (Katie Bug), who were his pride and joy. We raised our kids with his endless love of music, the joy of humor and laughter, a sense of freedom and adventure, and most of all, a strong work ethic.
Reid gave everything to his children and our marriage with the sole purpose of making his family proud. Without a college education, he worked hard to build a foundation for his family and developed a career that lasted until his forced retirement in 2024. Starting as a forklift driver for Lennox Industries in the early 90’s, he took every opportunity to advance, relocating a few times before eventually becoming part of the Lennox commercial team in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2024, Reid was honored as CSA of the Year, a recognition of his dedication and success.
During 2024, Reid had been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma cancer, and our lives changed forever. What followed was a journey filled with uncertainty, heartbreak, and extraordinary moments of love. He met every challenge with courage and dignity, and even in his hardest days, his greatest concern was the people he loved. Caring for him was not a burden but one of the deepest privileges of my life, and his strength and gentle spirit remained constant until the very end.
His heart loved fiercely, and he gave everything he had to continue his adventure as a grandfather (pops). He carried a deep love for Star Island, Minnesota, which remained his most treasured place of joy and will now be where his ashes are laid to rest. He also held a genuine love for Kentucky and the time spent there discovering new adventures and the memories still to be made.
Those who knew him will remember not his illness, but the life he lived, the laughter he shared, and the unwavering devotion he showed to the people he loved.
Left to honor and cherish Reid’s memory are his beloved wife, Cheryl Ann Davis; his father, James Fletcher Davis and stepmother, Cheri Davis; his mother, Judy Davis-Burr; his mother in law, Lucy Hill Miller; his son, Mayson Fletcher Davis; his daughter, Katheryn Marie Carter; his son-in-law, Taylor Blake Carter; his treasured grandson, Blake Reid Carter; his sister, Stacy Lynn Streen; his brother-in-law and lifelong best friend, David Streen; his niece Skyler Maria Streen along with countless other family members and friends whose lives were forever enriched by his love.
