

Richard (Dick) Walker, age 88, a resident of Avon Lake, Ohio, formerly an outstanding controller, Kiwanian, and a veteran of General George Patton’s army, passed away after a short illness on January 6th, 2012, in Sun Lakes, AZ, the home of his daughter Linda Cain (David). Dick was born on June 10th, 1923, graduated from Lakewood High School and Ohio University that he attended before and after World War II where he was assigned to the headquarters staff of General Patton’s army as it raced through France and Germany. While at Ohio University he met his wife of 58 years, Nancy Lane (deceased), was President of Theta Chi fraternity and majored in Accounting. During his long career he was a controller for Stouffers Restaurants in the days when Vernon Stouffer was President. He later joined TRW’s Automotive Division and traveled extensively around the world auditing TRW’s foreign facilities. After retiring from TRW he joined Ashby Dillon Advertising of Rocky River where he served as Treasurer for a number of years until his final retirement. Dick was active in community affairs in Bay Village where he and his wife lived for many years in a gracious home overlooking Lake Erie. He was Treasurer of the Bay Village Kiwanis Club for 25 years, Treasurer of the Rocky River Music Study Group and a member of the Bay Methodist Church. An accomplished clarinetist, he played in school bands. He was also an avid gardener, noted for his beautiful dahlias. In addition to Linda Cain, he had a second daughter, Judith Whitelaw (deceased). He is survived by his brother, Ronald Walker of Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, grand children Jenna Scardello, Lauren Arneson, Lindsay Mossing, Jacob and Jessica Whitelaw and two great grand children. A Memorial service will be held in Dick’s honor on June 23, 11:30 a.m. at the Bay Methodist Church in Bay Village.
