Robert Lee Pierle

Bob was part of the original team that pioneered Night Vision Goggles (Bendix Corp.) for the military. He worked in Night Vision from 1959 to 2000 in Michigan, Massachusetts, and Arizona. His name is on the original patents for Night Vision. He retired from L3 Communications, Tempe, AZ in 2000 and then consulted for them from 2001 to 2004. He also worked part-time as a pharmacy technician for 19 years in Michigan.

Bob & Bonnie were married on July 26, 1958 in Royal Oak, Michigan and had 58 wonderful years together raising our family.

He is preceded in death by loved ones: Son, Michael Robert; Mom, Phyllis Pierle; Father, Howard Pierle; Step-mom, Dorothy Pierle; Sister, Marilyn Ninowsky and Son-in-law, Danny Flanigan.

Survived by daughters: Dawn Flanigan, Chandler, AZ and Darlyn (husband Steven) Taylor, Mesa, AZ. Brothers: Richard Pierle, Traverse City, MI and Thomas Pierle, Huntington Beach, CA. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on January 2, 2017, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary from 11am until 1pm, followed by funeral service at 1pm. Interment will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
