Born in NYC on April 15, 1941 to her loving parents Louis & Mollie Walker, Roberta grew up in the Bronx alongside her close knit family. As a young child she enrolled in ballet class and did that for several years. Being the oldest of the cousins, she would often be called upon to babysit them. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for MetLife in the city.
Roberta had several hobbies over the years. She loved to create pieces in her weekly ceramics class. Items she painted ranged from figurines to lamps to piggy banks. Most of the walls in her Clifton home were decorated by her framed needlepoint designs. She enjoyed playing card and board games with her children and grandchildren whom she loved to care for. You could always find her curled up in a chair with a good book. This rubbed off on her daughter who is an avid reader. And finally, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband of over 61 years. They toured and cruised their way across a couple of continents while making memories.
Roberta was a homemaker for her family of four. She knew the importance of an advanced education and encouraged her children Lawrence & Melissa to pursue their college degrees. She will be deeply missed by them and their spouses Karen Schendelman and Michael Adasczik; as well as her grandchildren, Alexa & Chase Johnson, Justin Schendelman, Kevin Adasczik, Olivia Adasczik & Luciana Montillo.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Aaron Schendelman.
A memorial service will be held at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, in Chander, Arizona on November 25, 2025 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association (Desert Southwest Chapter) https://www.alz.org/dsw in her memory.
