Good bye, Dad. You and Mom made this world a better place with your wisdom, joy, tolerance, and your children; you gave me the most precious gift, your son and my husband John. I wish I was there today. I promise to take care of John as long as humanly possible.

Dear Rosson kids John, Janet, Mary Beth, Ruth, and family-You have my sincerest sympathy. I am sad to hear that your father has passed.  Sending you my love. We always had such fun at your house! I would love to be there tomorrow, but don't think it will be possible.  With much love from the Baxter family.

John, Janet, Mary Beth, and Ruth:  

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm so glad you all have both your parents in your hearts for now and always--I do too, in a smaller way.  A lot of my best childhood memories come from the time we all spent together almost as one family.  Your parents were almost as available to me as my own, and I still enjoy just the thought of chocolate goo cake and roasting marshmallows in the fireplace!  And I will always remember your father's improvisational jazz with almost any tune available!  I often felt that your parents (and your whole family) were my "other" family--and that's a rare treat in anyone's life.  I feel I missed a lot by not maintaining contact over the years, but you (and your parents) have always been in my heart.  You'll be in my prayers tomorrow--I  wish I could be there with you.

Dear Friends John, Janet, Mary Beth, and Ruth, [and All who knew and loved Roland and Barbara], 
     As Sandy Pacheco so aptly put it, "May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived."
     Roland was not only my pastor but also the father of my best friends from the time I was about 5 until I was 11 or 12 in Skagway, Alaska.  Looking back I think he was, with the exception of my own parents, the most influential person in my life.  At a young age I knew the "call" to ministry.  I think Roland's delight in his work, his easy laughter, and compassionate heart cemented a vision of LIFE into my own heart that in turn I am compelled to give away every chance I get.
     I remember his several pipes on a round stand that held several and the sweet aroma wafting through the living room as he read the paper and pondered some bemusing content with that furrowed brow and distant look in his eyes.  Listening to him play the piano so skillfully expressing his heart through music is one of my favorite and most inspiring memories. I remember always being welcome in their home, roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and having to be so careful not to get any on the carpet.  I remember being in a club with John, my older brother Doug, and David Hunz.  I remember Janet's royal blue parka with white fur balls on the ends of the hood draw strings.
     As I like to tell people at funerals, "We are not here because somebody died, we are here because they lived."  Roland Rosson and his family are one of God's many treasured gifts to me. Ps 116:15 "15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." NKJV

I remember playing at the manse with the Rosson kids, and the laundry shoot that went all the way to the basement.  Mary Beth was in my class. Also skating over at the church rec center. i remember that your house was always filled with kids playing.

I remember my cousin,Rollie,in our childhood,as a very fun person.
 As an adult, he became a very articulate
and chrismatic leader in the deliverance of Christs word.

Roland and Barbara were two of the first people we met in Alaska,and we enjoyed our time with them and their wonderful family.  I am sorry to hear that both Roland and Barbara are gone.  They were beautiful Christian witnesses.

Our condolences to your family.  Yes, we remember you all!  Roland was the pastor when we arrived in Ketchikan and we have fond memories of him and of the family. I first met Reverend Rosson and his family in 1968 when they moved to Chandler.  I enjoyed his warm sense of humor and vitality for life.  He was a joy to talk to and could converse on any subject.  As my father said many times, "I always liked him."  My condolences to John, Janet, Mary Beth, Ruth and their families.
