Sandy was a graduate of Thomas McKean High School, the University of Delaware, the College for Financial Planning in Boulder, CO, and the Graduate School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
Sandy loved and adored her husband, stepchildren, grandchildren, and especially the very special dogs in her life, Zeus, Apollo, and Doc. She loved going to the beach and staring at the ocean. Food was a favorite pastime as she perused many menus before making that final choice.
Sandy loved listening to music, from the 60s to Rock, Blues, and Jazz. She was particularly happy that she had seen the Rolling Stones in concert twice as well as the Moody Blues.
She enjoyed watching the Phoenix Suns play basketball on TV and saw the Phoenix Mercury play on a few occasions, as well. Sandy enjoyed going to local theaters and concerts.
Her favorite places of travel in the U.S. were Hawaii, New Orleans for French Quarter Fest, and the Carolinas visiting family.
Sandy also loved ballroom dancing with her husband, Ed.
Sandy was known as a compassionate person with a great love for animals. She was also known for being strong-willed and determined; she knew what she wanted and how she wanted to get there.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ed Berkowitz, her two stepchildren: Alexis (Berkowitz) Blackford and her husband, Justin, of Mooresville, NC, and Eric Berkowitz and his wife, Ashleigh, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Emerson Berkowitz, Jordan Blackford, Madden Berkowitz, and Juliana Blackford.
