

Sandra Kay Hawkins, a kind-hearted, cherished, and beloved woman, passed away on October 7, 2025, at the age of 81. A resident of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Sandi grew up in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Wirt High School in 1962. Sandi married Chuck Hawkins on November 24, 1965 and shortly after earned a bachelor's degree at Ball State Teachers College.
Sandi taught high school math, then preschool, before becoming a realtor in the Portland, Oregon area. She also helped run Dogwood Pet Hospital in Gresham, Oregon for many years. After a life full of diverse and meaningful work, Sandi and Chuck retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Sandi's family and many close friends were important to her. She is survived by her husband, Chuck, her son David (Julie) Hawkins, her daughter Susan (Wayne) Anderchuk, and her son Scot (Jenny) Hawkins. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Anna (Marshall), Megan, Hadley, Lauren, Cooper, and Gabe, and three great-grandchildren: Marion, Lucy, and Joshua. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Ura Robbins, and her sister Carolyn Siar.
In her personal life, Sandi loved traveling, going on cruises, hiking, and camping trips. She had a special fondness for the Oregon Coast. Her community involvement included participation in church, Rotary International, and Scouting.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary in the Sunbird Room, located at 10940 E Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona, 85248. The service is scheduled for November 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the ballroom at the Cottonwood Country Club in Sun Lakes starting at 2:30.
Family and friends are invited to dress comfortably for Sandi's Celebration. No gifts are necessary, but if you would like to give something, please make a donation in Sandi’s name to your church, Rotary International, or other preferred charity.
