Shirley (Weibel) Feno was born in Depew, NY on May 20, 1935 to parents, Henry, and Margaret Weibel. She was one of two children; the other being her twin - Gerald who still lives in NY with his wife, Charlene.
In January 1957, Shirley married her soul-mate, Philip Feno of Buffalo, NY where they lived and raised 3 daughters, Carrie, Cheryl & Charlene. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1972.
Shirley was known everywhere she went as a gentle soul, and she had such a way with animals, that Phil, her husband referred to her as “St Frances of Assisi”. It was not uncommon for Shirley to take in every stray cat and dog in the neighborhood; or to wake up in the morning to see a squirrel on the kitchen table enjoying a slice of toast and peanut butter with her. Shirley had such a zany and fun personality that you just naturally smiled in her presence, or at the mention of her name. After suffering a stroke in 2009, Shirley lost much of her vocabulary and ability to communicate; but the line she remembered was “I love you” and she told it to everyone she met, whether she knew you or not. She would say – “Hi – I love you!” or “Bye – I love you!” The unique thing about Shirley, is that she truly meant it; and you just could not help but love her back.
Shirley is pre-deceased by her husband Phil, her parents, a niece, 2 nephews, and several in-laws. Shirley is survived by daughters, Cheryl Bivens, Charlene Garcia, and Carrie Wiedmaier; her brother Gerald and his wife Charlene, Grandchildren, Paul, Jaime and Aaron Wiedmaier, Brandon Bivens & Nathan Garcia; as well as three nephews, David, Chuck, and Phil.
